So glad you wrote this so that I could read it on my screen of minerals.

It's interesting to me that we have this framing of AI that it's created by humans, and a conglomeration of human intelligence/thought, and yet there is this fear that it's going to take over or "outrun" us, and that this will be "bad". I wonder if this framing is also a symptom of human supremacy - anything that could possibly go "beyond" us is "bad".

Maybe if the minerals actually do take control, and turn the narrative back around on us, this wouldn't actually be bad at all. Maybe intelligence that goes beyond human capacity doesn't have to be evil, and maybe it's never been evil. It seems this was "proven" pretty clearly to our ancestors, and maybe this AI situation is what this iteration of humanity needs to remember.

Yes yes yes. Anything that perpetuates humans as the pinnacle of anything-- other than the pinnacle of hubris-- is human supremacy. We can start to poke holes in the theory with our curiosity about the relationship to when something is "beyond" us and how that might feel. Or how we might feel being mirrored back our actual standing on the planet/ in the universe: part of a whole, no better or worse than other parts of the whole.
